As we all known, the temples in Thailand are mostly golden and glittering. However, Wat Rong Khun in Chiang Rai is unique in its pure whiteness.
In the sun, this white temple lingers in the blue sky, shining with dazzling light, like a beautiful piece of art.
Chiang Rai is 180 km from Chiang Mai, the central city of Northern Thailand, and 900 km from Bangkok.Wat RongKhun was built in 1998. And it was designed and built by Chalermchai Kositpipat, a famous Thai architect (formerly a painter).
Because of his loyalty to the Buddha and his persistence in architectural design, he created such a fine and perfect temple.
Some people will wonder why to use white. Chalermchai Kositpipat said: White represents pure, sparkling glass is a symbol of wisdom.
The entire building of the temple is divided into three areas,
- A religious hall for worship parties.
- The living area of the monk, including the dormitory and the classroom for practicing meditation.
- Administrative department, gallery, canteen, screening room.
